Dublin Delights: A Wanderer's Weekend in the Emerald Isle's Capital

Join me, as I dive into 2.5 days of Dublin, exploring hidden gems, dining at local haunts, and discovering the laid-back charm of this historical city.

By Jordan Davis

Hey there fellow adventurers, it's your pal Jordan here, fresh off the plane from Dublin! Now let's spiral into a whirlwind of 2.5 days, crammed with enchanting landmarks, delicious eats, and buckets of Irish charm. So grab your laces, it's time to wander!

Kick off your Friday night at The Brazen Head, Ireland's oldest pub. Order a pint of the local brew and dabble in the folk music sessions that kick off from 9:30 pm.

Saturday begins with a hearty Irish breakfast at Gallagher's Boxty House in the Temple Bar district. Fuel up on boxty pancakes and black pudding. Trust me, it's tastier than it sounds!

From there, it's a short walk to Trinity College. Book nerds, brace yourselves - the old library is home to the 'Book of Kells', a mesmerizing 9th-century manuscript. A must-see!

Post Trinity, we hopped aboard a Dublin Bike and pedaled our way to the Guinness Storehouse. Take the self-guided tour, and reward yourself with a pint at the Gravity Bar at the top. Pro tip: Go around sunset for a fantastic view!

Interested in a bit of a hike? Howth Cliff Walk is your jam. We spent Sunday morning here, an hour away from Dublin. The panoramic views of the Irish Sea from here are worth every step.

After the hike, we refueled at Octopussy’s Seafood Tapas Bar in Howth, devouring the catch of the day. Absolutely delish!

Back in Dublin, we rounded up Sunday with a stroll through St. Stephen's Green and a visit to the Little Museum of Dublin.

As for romance, the quiet corners of The Library Bar in The Central Hotel have you covered. And for those who fancy a bit of night-time fun, The Grand Social has some pretty good live gigs.

And now, for my top hotel picks: For the trendy peeps, The Dean is a swanky choice. Luxury boutique? The Dylan is sheer class. On a budget? Buswells Hotel is a charming steal. For Bonvoy members, The Shelbourne, Autograph Collection is a historic treat. Hyatt loyalists, Andaz Dublin won't disappoint. And Hilton fans, Conrad Dublin is a top-notch pick.

To sum it up, my Dublin favorites: For restaurants, definitely Gallagher's Boxty House and Octopussy’s Seafood Tapas Bar. Coffee? Clement & Pekoe is a must-visit. And attractions? Don't miss Trinity College and the Guinness Storehouse. And there you have it, my whirlwind weekend in Dublin!

End of dispatch.

Was this any good?
