When in Rome: An Unforgettable Weekend Escape

Spend a weekend exploring Rome's hidden gems, savoring delicious food, and soaking up the city's vibrant atmosphere with your loved one.

By Jordan Davis

Bonjourno, fellow wanderers! This weekend, my better half and I had the pleasure of exploring the eternal city, Rome. Oh, what a dream come true it was, packed with history, romance, and (of course) mouthwatering food. So, buckle up, let me take you through our 2.5-day journey through this captivating city.

After touching down on Friday night, we headed straight to Trattoria da Lucia. This cozy, unassuming eatery was a real find. The food? Authentic Roman cuisine that will blow your mind. The vibe? Like we'd been invited into a Roman family's home for dinner. It was the perfect kick-off to our Roman adventure.

We started our Saturday with a visit to the Colosseum. It was a sight to behold, and despite the tourist crowds, it was a can't-miss experience. Afterward, we strolled down the Via Sacra, all the way to the Roman Forum. Pro tip: wear comfy shoes!

Next up, lunch. Based on a local's recommendation, we headed to Roscioli. Their carbonara was to die for and the fresh-baked bread was unbelievable.

We closed out the day with a romantic stroll around the Trastevere, a charming neighborhood that feels like stepping back in time.

Sunday morning, we grabbed coffee at Sant'Eustachio Il Caffè before heading to the Vatican City. The awe-inspiring architecture and art at the Vatican are something you have to experience for yourself.

Before catching our flight, we squeezed in one last meal at Pizzeria da Remo, where we enjoyed some of the best pizza we've ever tasted.

Our favorite digs for the trip? For trendy, it's gotta be Generator Rome. On the luxury end, we loved Margutta 19. If you're on a budget like us, check out Relais Monti. For Bonvoy members, Palazzo Naiadi is a gem. If you're a Hyatt fan, you can't beat Grand Hotel Via Veneto. And for all you Hilton lovers, Rome Cavalieri is a dream.

End of dispatch.

Was this any good?
