Bangkok Bliss: A Lavish Weekend in the City of Angels

A culinary and cultural journey through Bangkok, filled with secret gems, luxury pampering and the city’s best eats.

By April Wagner

Hello, fellow travel enthusiasts! If you're anything like me, you appreciate the finer things in life - excellent food, unique experiences, and of course, a bit of pampering. This weekend, we're off to Bangkok, a city that never fails to impress with its eclectic mix of traditional charm and modern luxuries.

Kick off your Friday night with a visit to Vertigo for cocktails amidst breathtaking city views. Located at the top of the Banyan Tree Hotel, this rooftop bar is the perfect spot to take in the dazzling Bangkok skyline.

For dinner, head to Bo.lan, one of Bangkok's finest restaurants. It's not just a meal, it's a journey through Thailand's rich culinary heritage. Don't forget to try their signature dish, the Massaman curry.

Saturday morning, after a lavish breakfast, visit the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre. My artsy husband swears it's a must-visit for any art enthusiast.

For lunch, check out Soul Food Mahanakorn, a hidden gem that serves up delicious Thai street food in a chic, modern setting.

In the afternoon, take a private tour of The Grand Palace, a stunning architectural marvel that's a testament to Thailand's rich history.

For dinner, head to Le Du, a fusion Thai restaurant that blends traditional Thai ingredients with modern cooking techniques.

Sunday morning is for pampering. Book a massage at the Oasis Spa, where you'll be transported to a world of tranquillity.

For Sunday Brunch, check out Veganerie Soul. Their vegan pancakes are to die for, and even my meat-loving husband agrees.

On your way out of the city, visit Chatuchak Weekend Market. It's a paradise for shoppers, and my teenage daughters absolutely adore it.

Now, let's talk about where to stay. For the trendy, I recommend Siam@Siam Design Hotel. For the luxury boutique experience, The Siam Hotel is your best bet. If you're on a budget, The Yard Hostel is a stylish and affordable option. For the loyal BonVoy members, JW Marriott Hotel is a crowd-pleaser. For the Hyatt loyalists, Hyatt Regency offers a blend of comfort and luxury. And lastly, for the Hilton devotees, Conrad Bangkok never disappoints.

My top picks for foodies? Bo.lan, Le Du, and Soul Food Mahanakorn. For coffee lovers, Roots Coffee Roaster, Brave Roasters, and Gallery Drip Coffee are must-visits. And for sightseeing, you can't miss The Grand Palace, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, and Chatuchak Weekend Market.

That's it for now, dear friends. Safe travels, and remember - the world is yours to explore!

End of dispatch.

Was this any good?
