Exploring Tokyo from Friday night to Sunday afternoon, filled with kid-friendly locales, palate-pleasing cuisine, and a hint of grown-up fun!

TokyoBy Niamh Ashley

Hey fellow adventurers! This weekend we're off to Tokyo, a city as buzzing and bright as a toddler on a sugar rush. Buckle up, and let's dive in!

Friday Night: Straight off the plane, we head to Ippudo RoppongiIppudo Roppongi for their heavenly ramen. My kids gobble it right up. Who needs chicken nuggets, right? Post dinner, it's time for us to check into Conrad TokyoConrad Tokyo (chic, trendy, and blessedly close to the action). Kiddos are tucked into bed (thank God for reliable babysitting services) and it's time for hubby and I to enjoy the vibrant Tokyo nightlife. Bar High FiveBar High Five is our go-to for cocktails.

Saturday Morning: We start our day at the Tsukiji Fish MarketTsukiji Fish Market. The kids LOVE the hustle and bustle. Breakfast is fresh sushi (yes, even for the kids!) at Sushi DaiSushi Dai. We then head over to Ueno ZooUeno Zoo, a firm favorite with my monkeys.

Saturday Afternoon: We grab a quick lunch at Yakitori Ton TonYakitori Ton Ton before making our way to TeamLab BorderlessTeamLab Borderless, a digital art museum that's an absolute sensory feast for the kids.

Saturday Night: After a meal at Gonpachi Nishi-AzabuGonpachi Nishi-Azabu (the 'Kill Bill' restaurant), it's back to the hotel. The kids are tucked in, and hubby and I head out to WombWomb to dance the night away.

Sunday: We begin our day at Meiji JinguMeiji Jingu, a tranquil Shinto shrine. Lunch at MaisenMaisen for their legendary Tonkatsu. Post-lunch, it's a leisurely stroll around the Shinjuku Gyoen National GardenShinjuku Gyoen National Garden.

Sunday Afternoon: A must-visit is the eclectic Harajuku Takeshita StreetHarajuku Takeshita Street - and crepes at Angels HeartAngels Heart. Our final stop is Shibuya CrossingShibuya Crossing - an iconic Tokyo sight that leaves the kids wide-eyed.
