Rome: A Family Weekend Wander
Your long-awaited guide to an unforgettable and family-friendly weekend in Rome.
By Niamh Ashley
Ciao! Welcome to Rome, the city steeped in ancient history and brimming with delicious cuisine. Let's dive in, shall we?
*Kick-off your weekend at the iconic Piazza Navona. You can't miss the Fountain of the Four Rivers, a true Baroque masterpiece. Then, stroll to the Pantheon, one of the best-preserved monuments of Roman antiquity.
For lunch, we head to Trattoria da Teo. This is the spot to try traditional Roman dishes such as cacio e pepe and saltimbocca. The kids will love the spaghetti!
How about some gelato? Fatamorgana is a must-visit. Their flavors are a delight for both kids and adults.
We dedicate Saturday to the Vatican City. The Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica are mesmerizing. By the time you're done, everyone will be ready for a nap!
In the evening, after the kids are tucked in, stroll over to The Jerry Thomas Project for some of the city's best cocktails.
Sunday calls for a relaxed morning at Villa Borghese, Rome's third-largest public park. It's perfect for a picnic and a game of frisbee.
Lunchtime means pizza time. Pizzarium by Gabriele Bonci serves up delectable slices to suit every palate.
Before you leave, be sure to toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain. It ensures a return trip to Rome, and trust me, you’ll want to come back.
